Mapping the Eternal Sky
New Works by Gail Potocki
Opening October 4, 2025 · Galerie Fledermaus
Sleep is intended to be a sanctuary, the final reprieve from the relentlessness of the world. But for those denied its refuge, the night becomes something else: a vast interior expanse, an atlas of restless thought. In place of dreams, there is the vigil of consciousness—eyes fixed inward, charting the constellations of memory, fear, and fragile hope.
For the past eight years, Gail Potocki has undertaken this nocturnal cartography. Mapping the Internal Sky is the result of her retreat, a long passage through the shifting illusions of commercial success in a digital age, desperate health concerns, the isolation of the pandemic, and living in the era of a political and environmental landscape more volatile than any she has known.
Potocki’s paintings are coordinates in an unseen cartography, reminding us that, beneath our divisions, we are guided by the same unspoken needs and searching for light in the same darkness.
On October 4, 2025, Galerie Fledermaus and Century Guild will present Mapping the Internal Sky: a collection of deeply personal narratives rendered in paint, light, and shadow. This exhibition is a pilgrimage: an invitation to trace, with the artist, the invisible constellations
that bind our inner worlds to the one we share.
